Platelet Rich Plasma for Rotator Cuff Tears. (2012)

This case reports shows the effective resolution of a 3 year history of severe pain and shoulder restriction in a patient with a partial thickness rotator cuff tear and tendinopathy after Platelet Rich Plasma Prolotherapy injections.

Platelet Rich Plasma in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial Study, 2 year follow-up.  (2011)
This is a study of 53 patients who underwent arthroscopy for a repair of a complete rotator cuff tear.  The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, one who received an intraoperative application of PRP and the other who did not.  The results of the study showed that the autologous PRP group had reduced pain in the first postoperative months, a long term positive effect in healing.

A Retrospective Study on Hackett-Hemwall Dextrose Prolotherapy for Chronic Shoulder Pain at an Outpatient Charity Clinic in Rural Illinois.  (2009)
In this sample of 94 patients with an average of 53 months of unresolved shoulder pain treated with dextrose Prolotherapy.  97% of patients reported pain relief and over 82% experienced improvements in sleep, exercise ability, anxiety, depression and overall disability.

In this study of 29 patients, dextrose Prolotherapy resulted in a clinically significant improvement in shoulder pain.
